How do I use the Virgin Refer a Friend Code?

It’s important to follow the instructions closely on this one, because (unlike many other refer a friend schemes) the referral is not directly applied via a link. You need to apply – which you can do via the link above – and then add the referral code via the App within 60 days. Here’s the key steps:

  1. Apply for the Virgin Rewards or Rewards+ Credit Card and – if you’re not a member already – join the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. You can add your membership number to the application or later via the App.
  2. Download the Virgin Money Credit Card App and register your card
  3. Enter the code: rdk7XFFWtISxN+PEWEpZRA== via the Rewards Lounge section of the App within 60 days.
  4. Spend a minimum of £3,000 in 90 days to get the additional refer a friend bonus (3,000 or 7,000 points depending on card)

So the key step here is to copy the code rdk7XFFWtISxN+PEWEpZRA== via the Virgin Atlantic Rewards Lounge in the App, once your card is registered – and within 60 days of opening the account.

Note: If you opened your account within the past 60 days you can still add this code now.

It is understood (although seemingly not confirmed by Virgin Money) that previous Cardholders will qualify for a bonus if they have not held a Virgin Atlantic credit card for more than 6 months.

What extra benefits does a Referral to Virgin Atlantic Credit Cards get me?

The Virgin Atlantic Credit Cards offer a standard welcome bonus of 18,000 points for the Reward+ card (£180 annual fee) and 3,000 for the Reward card (no fee). The added refer a friend bonus is then an additional 7,000 points for the Reward+ card or an additional 3,000 points for the Reward card. To unlock these you need to have used the code rdk7XFFWtISxN+PEWEpZRA== within 60 days of opening the card.

What are the key details for the Virgin Atlantic Credit Cards?

– The representative APR on the Reward Card (no fee) is 26.9% variable. The representative APR on the Reward+ card (£160/yr) is 69.7% variable, including the annual fee.

– FX fees are not charged on transactions in Euros which ‘take place in the UK or European Economic Area’.

– You can earn a flight upgrade or companion ticket with £20,000+ annual spend on the Reward card (no fee) or £10,000+ annual spend on the Reward+ card (£160/yr).

If you fly, or plan to fly with Virgin Atlantic, then then the current bonus – further enhanced by the refer a friend offer – may be attractive. There are also plenty of interesting rewards available via the Virgin Red App (which you can link to your Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account). These include tickets to the Virgin Red Room at the O2. You can see my review of a previous visit here: Virgin Red Room O2 Review.

Remember that reward credit cards are typically only worthwhile if you intend to pay your balance in full each month. I tend to set this up by Direct Debit and then target my spend depending on offers and my travel plans.

How much is a Virgin point worth?

If you’re looking to turn those hard-earned points into a getaway (or a box of Percy Pigs!), here is the lowdown on what they are actually worth in 2026.

The “golden rule” of Virgin Points is that they aren’t one-size-fits-all. Depending on how you spend them, the value can shift quite a bit:

The Sweet Spot: Virgin Atlantic Redemptions

If you’re a traveler at heart, this is where you get the most bang for your buck.

  • Upper Class & Premium: This is the “holy grail.” When booking Upper Class reward seats (especially on long-haul routes like London to NYC), your points can be worth anywhere from 1.2p to 2p+ each.
  • Economy: Still a great deal, usually netting you around 0.5p to 1p per point.
  • Pro Tip: Look for “Saver” seats—you can find one-way flights to the States for as little as 6,000–7,500 points plus taxes!

The “Everyday” Value: Virgin Red

Virgin Red is the group’s “on-the-ground” rewards club. It’s fantastic for variety, but the value is more stabilized.

  • Gift Cards & Treats: Most redemptions here—like Greggs, cinema tickets, or Virgin Experience Days—give you a fixed value of roughly 0.5p per point.
  • Virgin Voyages: Using points for a cruise is a popular “lifestyle” spend, typically landing around 0.7p per point, though they often run “Red Hot” deals that can boost that value significantly.
  • O2 Arena Virgin Red Room: More difficult to value, but with packages starting at 35,000 a value of 0.7p is potentially realistic given the VIP extras above and beyond a pair of standard tickets (assume value £250+)

So, for the best value, aim for the skies. I generally value my points at about 1p as a baseline. If a redemption offers less than 0.5p, I’d usually suggest holding onto them for a flight upgrade. But hey, if a ‘free’ flight isn’t in your near future, using 200 points for a coffee via Virgin Red is still a pretty sweet win!

How do I refer a friend?

If you’ve landed on this page because you’re looking to refer a friend – or if after using the code you want to refer your friends too, then here’s how:

  1. Open the Virgin Money Credit Cards App and tap on your Virgin Atlantic Credit card.
  2. Go to the Virgin Atlantic Rewards Lounge section and copy your code.
  3. Send your code to your friend and tell them to copy it into the Rewards Lounge section of their own App once they have the card.
