American Express UK Referral Link [May 2026]: Get the Best Amex Welcome Bonus

Take Me to the Points Amex Gold Refer Banner

Amex UK Refer a Friend Link (Including Gold and Platinum)

This page hosts a working American Express referral link for UK cards:

The refer-a-friend link will show you the details for the American Express Rewards Credit Card, however it is applicable for any American Express Card (Gold Rewards Card, Platinum, Cashback, BA, Nectar, Marriott Bonvoy, etc.). This is confirmed by Amex here.

This page provides an Amex referral link. If you use my link, I may earn a bonus. Please note that this website is for entertainment and information purposes only and is not intended as financial advice. The page provides a guidance on the referral code and process, please ensure you do your own research on the product itself. This link was last checked and verified May 2026. I may also earn a bonus if you use my referral link.

If you’re looking to apply for a new Amex and want to unlock a bigger welcome bonus, use the American Express Rewards card refer-a-friend link button to get started (or the text links below). Make sure you check the spend requirements for earning the bonus – for example, the Gold card requires £5,000 of spending in 6 months.

By applying through this link, you’ll qualify for extra rewards such as Membership Rewards points, Avios, Nectar points, Marriott Bonvoy points or cashback, depending on the card (see table below). This link is for the Amex Refer-a-Friend UK programme (T&C’s).

If you’d prefer, you can also use our direct links below for the British Airways and Nectar Amex cards:

To Apply for a Different Card with the Referral Link (Nectar, British Airways, Platinum, Cashback, Marriott Bonvoy):

As above, American Express Referral links are not specific to one card – the great thing about them is that any cardmember can refer friends to any card. Whilst a referral link will usually direct to the card held by the referrer, you simply need to navigate to ‘explore other cards’ to select a different one. The info on screen will clearly show that the referral offer applies (so double check you can see this). Here’s a quick step by step:

  1. When you use the link you will see a white box saying you have been referred for a specific card. Click continue to see the details,
  2. Next Scroll down to ‘explore other cards’ (towards the bottom of screen, just above the footer)
  3. Choose ‘All Cards’ to see a list of all available cards and then select your preferred referral offer
  4. Apply for your preferred card – the information on screen should clearly show the referral offer has been applied (as in the screenshot below)

How do I get an increased welcome bonus?

American Express offer increased bonuses when you apply through a refer a friend link and meet the stated spending requirements. To use the offer:

  1. Click the Amex Referral Link, which will take you to the card application screen
  2. Complete your application by following the form on screen – this will show that the referral offer is applied.
  3. Once you have your card, you will need to meet the stated spending requirement in order to receive the bonus. This varies by card, for example the American Express Preferred Rewards Gold card currently requires a £5,000 spend in 6 months to unlock the bonus
  4. Your increased bonus should then appear on your American Express account

Pro Tip: Once your card arrives, add a supplementary card to bag an easy extra points bonus

Applying on a Smartphone? Make sure to open the link in your browser (Safari/Chrome) rather than inside the Reddit or X app to ensure the bonus tracks correctly.

Remember reward cards are usually only worthwhile if you pay your balance in full each month. Also, it’s worth using the Amex eligibility checker to check whether you’ll be accepted prior to using the referral link.

Welcome bonuses are generally only applicable for customers who have not held an American Express card for at least 24 months (although the link above can still be used to apply, even if you’re not sure whether you’re eligible for the bonus).

What are the benefits of American Express Cards?

American Express cards were the starting point for my reward points journey – which in turn led me to set up this blog. In most cases, holding an American Express card can help you to earn more rewards on your spending, as well as picking up extra perks. They’re also increasingly widely accepted – for example most supermarkets now accept Amex.

If you’ve not held an American Express card in the past 24-months, then the American Express Preferred Rewards Gold card is a great starting point – with benefits including a 20,000 points welcome bonus (potentially worth £200), plus travel inconvenient insurance and a Priority Pass with 4 airport lounge visits. It’s free in year one and can be cancelled easily at any point.

Sometimes it’s actually worth holding an Amex card even if you’re not using it for spending – for example, did you know that Amex cardmembers get free entry to the Amex Lounge at the O2 Arena London and a complimentary drink on arrival?
